Celebrating my first 200 patients receiving the Artificial Urinary Sphincter

Argimiro Collado Serra, MD - Spain

To celebrate the first 200 patients receiving the Artificial Urinary Sphincter to treat incontinence, the Fundación IVO in Valencia, Spain hosted a reception for these patients and their families. We made presentation on the history of the sphincter since 1972 which helped to make the bonds among patients even stronger.

Two important facts were realized AUS patients. First, there is peace of mind knowing that the device has many years of technical development, and the care from both doctors and nurses is both important and genuine. Patients shared stories about their lives before and after the AUS and families made connections that will last for many years. The crowd was full of hugs and laughter. Some patients even joked about having to visit the toilet!

Our event was featured in local newspapers to spread awareness of our hospital and AUS therapy. I can honestly say it was one of the best days of my medical career!
